With a long history, Youth Leadership Bartholomew County has worked with many youth and their parents.  Here are what some past participants have to say about their experience.

“Participating in Youth Leadership Bartholomew County has helped me in so many ways. The essay I wrote has been useful when applying for college as well as scholarships. The interview prepared me for the scholarship interview I had last month that could possibly provide me with full tuition. The Leadership conference was very motivational and educational. I would definitely recommend this program to all high school students.” – Casey, Class of 2012

“What I liked the most about the YLBC Day was that everything was well organized and planned out. The speakers made directions very clear for all of us to hear and understand. The activities were really fun and easy to follow. The food was great! Everyone did a great job.” – Greicy, Class of 2013

“YLBC is a great way to recognize the high school leaders of the community. It also allows students to improve their leadership skills and recognize their strengths and it is nice to be rewarded for hard work. It was a good idea to place students alphabetically so that they were able to interact with others that they may not have chosen to sit with.” Bethany, Class of 2013

“The human knot was fun.” – Charles, Class of 2013

“I really liked that it wasn’t just a boring banquet, that is actually what I was expecting. I was surprised there was games, and I liked them.” – Keely, Class of 2013

“The deadlines and requirements were made very clear from the start and participants were given ample time to fulfill them. The photography session was very professional and efficient and the pictures turned out very nicely. The event itself was full of fun activities and was very organized.” – Ramya, Class of 2013

“I thought the program was organized pretty well. It is always a neat idea to have parents come and watch. Also, the activities we played were fun and interesting.” – Christine, Class of 2013

“YLBC is a great opportunity for Columbus students to come together from multiple schools and learn more leadership skills. As well, the YLBC day broads their networking circles. I would hope many of them will come back to live in Columbus several years from now and use these networks to continue to be leaders of our great town.” 2013 Class Parent

“Great opportunity for students to polish resumes, practice interviewing, and hone writing skills.”2013 Class Parent

“The YLBC is a wonderful program! When the process begins at the end of the kids’ junior years- a lot of them are not in the “getting stuff done for college” mode yet- applications, essays, scholarships- etc. This program gives the first glimpse at preparing resumes, writing essays, and being interviewed. I was impressed with the program!” 2013 Class Parent

“I thought the parent part of the program was very good. Even though it took time, announcing every student was very good. I liked that the students were “mixed up” at their tables, it’s never to late to make new friends! The process of YLBC was very organized and you made it very easy. Like the reminders posted via facebook so we didn’t miss deadlines. Great job!!!” – 2013 Class Parent
