February 22nd Update

Attention East Students. Those attending the Youth Leadership meeting on the morning of February 22nd at 7:30 if there is a 2 hr. delay we will meet at 9:30 instead...

Youth Leadership Bartholomew County (YLBC), a program co-sponsored by Columbus Service League and Rotary Club needs your financial support.  We know that as business leaders in our community you are tirelessly approached by a steam of causes, many of them worthy, so why should you choose to give to YLBC?

Who is the best leader you know personally?  Chances are he or she is bright, though perhaps not the top of the class, is well presented both physically and verbally and is capable of assessing the individual strengths in a group and orchestrating the combining of those to meet any challenge, even in the face of adversity.

Youth Leadership Bartholomew County strives to spark the awareness in our student candidates that these are among building blocks of their future success. Second semester, Junior class students at all county High Schools (Columbus Christian, Columbus East, Columbus North, Columbus Signature Academy, Hauser and International School of Columbus) who have a cumulative B+ or 9.0 GPA are invited to complete the candidacy requirements.   These include completion of a resume, writing of a concise essay, and participation in a personal interview with a business or community leader.

Top scoring candidates are awarded scholarships.  Although limited funds have dictated that the monetary awards are modest, we have annually increased the number of students who complete the program.  Their feedback indicates that they value the experience we have provided.

We see so many opportunities to grow and improve this process; we are only limited by funds. If you recognize that investing in your community brings strong capital return, and you further recognize that our youth are the community leaders of tomorrow, then you know the value of supporting this program.

We would appreciate the opportunity to have a committee member meet with you to discuss sponsorship levels and other ways you might be involved in this effort.

Thanking you in advance for your sincere consideration,
Columbus Service League YLBC Committee
